"During the sessions with Lizzy, we decided on my overall goal for the session and how likely I am to achieve it on a scale of 1 – 10. We then worked on what I need to do to achieve that goal so break it down into smaller tasks, set a date to do it by and at the end of each session, the number has always gone up once I have got clearer about what I need to do to achieve that week’s goals. Knowing that I’ll be reporting back to Lizzy each week also means I am more likely to do my goals. As a result of the sessions I have set myself deadlines to achieve which otherwise I wouldn’t have done and by setting deadlines and having the coaching calls, I have got more done than I would have done otherwise.” Sarah
"Lizzie’s style of coaching is such that she opens up the session you by asking you to establish a clear goal. Throughout the session she returns to the goal and asks you to read it back. This helps to keep you focused. I like the way she challenges you through the options phase. Her strategy appears to be to get you to brainstorm your options and then score them in terms of priority combined with easiest to hardest. Having given them a score for priority her strategy is to establish commitment score for each of the focus options. This is then followed by identifying not only a date but also a time so by the end of the coaching session you really feel confident that you are going to meet a next step.
Each coaching session acts as a building block from the previous one. I really like the fact that even before the coaching began that she would always remind you of confidentiality and little housekeeping bits like, “have you got pen and paper ready?”
Her ability lies in giving you praise throughout the session but also allowing you time for reflecting during her summary of reality or options.
The transformation between the processes of the first coaching sessions to the last has meant the feeling of being overwhelmed, frustrated and lacking in focus has been replaced by motivation, excitement and optimism. Having secured two days a week consultancy, which has added to my self-confidence and I feel that I will be able to verbalise my specialism to others by April. Anne
